Anybody know what this is?

Hello my friends. I found this at a thrift shop recently, only 99 cents and thought I had to have it. I like the dark yellow mustard color and the old crackle finish.

But I can't figure out what it's used for. I believe it's some kind of dipper but I could be wrong.

Any ideas?

It looks nice in my kitchen (smile).

I think cottage art has it right, a gravy skimmer, separateness the fat from the gravy.

It is either a fat skimmer or an egg seperator. I would try it both ways to see. I would have bought it too-very interesting.

I agree with the girls Donna...I think it's one of the two suggestions. If the hole is big enough then it could be used for both! Love the color.

Yes. That's a fat separator.

My mum has one for separating the fat from the gravy.

Everyone is right-it's a far separator' The grease rises to the top and the good broth can be poured through the spout for use.

I love the color.♥ I think this is made to skim the fat off of gravy.
